PAIN-FREE AND PROFESSIONAL LASER HAIR REMOVAL
PAIN-FREE AND PROFESSIONAL LASER HAIR REMOVAL
How do I prepare for my laser hair removal treatment?
Waxing, tweezing, epilators and threading must be discontinued at least 4 weeks before your treatment. This is because the laser targets the hairs' roots, which are temporarily removed by waxing or plucking.
Either the day before or on the day of your treatment, the entire area needs to be shaven clean. This is because before we laser we do not want any hair above the surface of the skin.
What can I do between treatments?
Shaving is recommended between treatments. Do not wax, tweeze, or use epilators as this will affect the results of your treatment.
Why do I require more than one treatment?
Hair grows in three cycles, Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen. The active state of growth is the Anagen phase. The hair is ‘alive’ in this phase, i.e. it is attached to the bulb of growing cells in the hair follicle. Laser hair removal is only effective during this cycle of hair growth.
It is important to note that each hair may be in a different hair growth cycle. If the hair is in either the Catagen or Telogen phase, it will not be successfully targeted and therefore will only be treated in subsequent sessions.
As such additional treatments are needed for each follicle to be treated whilst in the Anagen phase.
The typical number of treatments ranges from 6-12 and is dependent on the area being treated, hormones, lifestyle, as well as medications and supplements being taken.
Is the treatment process painful?
During the treatment, you may feel a warm or tickling sensation. The Cryo Sheer Diode laser uses a sapphire tip for contact cooling and as a result, treatments are virtually pain-free and pleasant.
How soon after the treatment will you see results?
Almost immediately. The treated hair follicles in the Anagen phase have been destroyed and will no longer return, leaving them to fall out naturally between 10-14 days after the treatment.
What restrictions are there after the treatment?
It is advisable to wait at least 12-24 hours before exercising, using a sauna, or having a hot shower or bath.
Avoid direct sun exposure of treated areas for at least one-week post-treatment and apply a broad-spectrum sunblock.
Self-tanning and laser?
Self-tan/spray tan will hinder the results of your treatment. Please refrain from these treatments for at least 2 weeks before your treatment.
What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a hair removal method that destroys the growth centre of individual hairs using heat energy. It has been around for 125 years and remains the only 100% effective method of permanent hair removal for all skin and hair types.
Does Electrolysis hurt?
Using the Apilus Senior 3G system, which targets hairs for destruction, electrolysis offers comfort during the treatment process.
What does electrolysis feel like?
Most clients find Apilus electrolysis systems more comfortable than other machines. There is a brief feeling of warmth when the current is applied, but methods can be adjusted for client comfort.
How long does the treatment take?
Treatment duration varies based on factors like the area to be cleared, hair type, and hair density. Sessions can range from 10 minutes to two hours, and multiple sessions may be required over a year or more to treat all hairs.
How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatments needed varies depending on hair growth, treatment area, and size. A clearer indication can be provided during a consultation.
What causes unwanted hair?
Unwanted hair can be caused by hereditary factors, ageing, glandular disturbances, pregnancy, stress, medications, obesity, and anorexia nervosa. Electrolysis can eliminate the effects of these causes, though it doesn't cure the underlying causes.
My hair looks like it is reappearing—is the treatment working?
Yes, electrolysis can be effective in removing unwanted hair, but it may take multiple sessions to treat all active hair follicles. Each square inch of skin contains several hundred hair follicles but only a certain amount of these follicles are in an active hair growth cycle. The remaining follicles can grow at any time depending on the hair growth cycle and the causes of excess hair in each individual. A few chin hairs that are plucked out daily can mean that they are actually 30 or more hairs taking turns to grow! The good news is that each area of the body has a set amount of hair follicles and once most or all of the active hair follicles are successfully treated the excess hair problem is basically completed.
Are all hairs eliminated in one treatment or is regrowth expected?
Excessive hair growth may require multiple treatments to fully address. Based on individual consultation, a treatment plan will be designed to meet your hair removal needs.
Can unwanted hair be removed from anywhere on the body?
Electrolysis can be applied to most facial and body parts, including eyebrows, chin, lip, jawline, underarms, legs, etc., based on your specific needs.
What about IPL/Laser treatments?
Electrolysis and laser/IPL treatments have different approaches, with electrolysis targeting hair follicles individually for permanent removal, while laser/IPL offers hair reduction rather than complete removal.
What is thermolysis and how does it work in treating skin anomalies?
Thermolysis is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses heat energy to target and treat various skin anomalies. It works by delivering high-frequency electrical current to the targeted area, destroying unwanted skin cells.
What skin anomalies can be effectively treated with thermolysis?
Thermolysis is commonly used to treat skin anomalies such as skin tags, cherry angiomas, spider veins, and certain types of hyperpigmentation.
Are there any side effects or risks associated with thermolysis treatment for skin anomalies?
Common side effects of thermolysis may include redness, swelling, and temporary discomfort at the treatment site. Serious risks are rare but may include infection or scarring.
How many sessions of thermolysis are typically needed to see results for skin anomalies?
The number of sessions required can vary depending on the size, type, and location of the skin anomaly. In general, multiple sessions are often needed for optimal results.
Is thermolysis a painful procedure for treating skin anomalies? Discomfort during thermolysis is typically minimal, with most patients experiencing only mild sensations of heat or tingling.
How long does it take to recover after undergoing thermolysis for skin anomalies?
Recovery time after thermolysis is usually minimal. Patients can typically resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure, with any redness or swelling subsiding within a few days.
Are there any specific post-treatment care instructions following thermolysis treatment for skin anomalies?
Post-treatment care may include keeping the treated area clean and applying recommended topical ointments to promote healing. It's essential to follow your provider's instructions for optimal results.
What are the potential benefits of choosing thermolysis over other skin anomaly treatment options?
Thermolysis offers advantages such as minimal downtime, high precision in targeting specific skin anomalies, and the ability to treat various types of skin irregularities effectively.
Is thermolysis suitable for all skin types and colours when treating skin anomalies?
Thermolysis is generally safe and effective for individuals of various skin types and colours. However, it's essential to consult with a qualified provider to determine the most suitable treatment approach for your specific skin concerns.
How long do the results of thermolysis treatment for skin anomalies typically last?
The results of thermolysis treatment can be long-lasting, especially when combined with proper skincare maintenance. However, factors such as sun exposure and individual skin characteristics may affect the longevity of results.
